Third Day of Training Course Highlights Health, Safety, and Environmental Practices at Coca-Cola Factory in Erbil

As part of the third and final day of the specialized training course titled “Advancing Solar Energy & Climate Resilience in Kurdistan,” Environmental Science students from the University of Sulaimani visited the Coca-Cola Factory in Erbil. This insightful visit focused on the factory’s health and safety standards, ISO practices, and its environmental unit’s efforts toward achieving zero waste production.

During the field visit, students were introduced to the factory’s Zero Waste Strategy and Guidelines, which are aligned with international environmental and occupational safety standards. Factory experts and environmental monitors shared firsthand knowledge about the procedures implemented to ensure a safe and sustainable work environment. Students gained valuable insight into how industrial sustainability is managed in practice, including waste reduction, resource management, and employee health protocols.

The environmental monitoring team at Coca-Cola also discussed how continuous assessment and innovation contribute to minimizing environmental impacts and maintaining safety in the workplace. The visit was particularly relevant to the students’ understanding of how sustainability goals are embedded within industrial operations.

This training course, sponsored by Progress Sun Company and the Kurdistan Students Association, is designed to bridge academic knowledge with practical field experience. It has equipped students with essential tools to address energy and climate challenges in the region.

The College of Environmental Science extends its appreciation to Coca-Cola Erbil for opening its doors to students and fostering a deeper understanding of industrial environmental management and workplace safety.
